Budget users should decide first whether Notion is already their operating workspace. If it is not, paying for AI inside Notion usually adds cost before it adds leverage.

When Notion AI is worth paying for

Notion AI is worth paying for when the workspace already contains the material AI needs: notes, docs, meetings, project databases, decisions, and connected tools. Without that base, a cheaper general assistant often works better.

The strongest paid case is repeated internal work: meeting notes, project summaries, workspace search, database autofill, and recurring documentation cleanup.

When to stay free or use Plus only

Stay on Free if you are organizing personal notes or only testing AI occasionally. Use Plus for collaboration and workspace capacity before assuming Business-level AI is necessary, because Plus still presents AI as Limited Trial rather than a full included reason to buy.
